Well it may well have been Chechens but highly unlikely it's Chechen separatists, if that makes sense.
More likely "revenge" for doing the business in Syria.
Either way will be quite revealing in the way the Russian leaders respond to this in comparison to the way our leaders so with their public crying etc.

On 27 December 2013 a bomb exploded in a parked car in Pyatigorsk, killing three people.[35] In December Volgograd bombings 34 people were killed in two separate suicide attacks.

Whoever has done this ( personally not interested ) massive shame as for those that have seen any Metro Stations in Moscow each one is bloody impressive almost Museum like statues in everyone.
